Time for a new job? (Waitress)? So, I work at the same restaurant for a year now. I was told that once I was revealed to be a rock star server I get better travel (parties, etc.) I often work 10 days in a row, but I only work the change of Restaurant opening which means that I get to 10: 30, work until about 1 and go home with $ 18. My schedule is not defined as 97% of other workers. If someone takes off, it is the passage that I work. The passage I really put all day is Monday. But the comparison with the horror of a change, it is ... The best all day shift and the Sunday paper is the server we are going to walk home with about $ 300 - $ 400. My Monday all day team has to walk with about $ 70 with only about $ 400 of sales. There is no way for me to get the best transfer that the person who made the schedule and no one was that the change in six years.
I do not want to hang the best teams, but I worked for this restaurant for 11 months and my shifts are based on when everyone else is walking or if no else is there to gaps. I was basically the restaurant opened 5-6 days a week for almost a year and I do very little to do.
Nobody closes the restaurant. In 11 months, I saw a server quit, and one turned so there is little room to move and rub new changes that must be filled due to leave someone.
Then I feel the restaurant where I work is much more than others in the region. I heard some years ago we'd have an hour wait on Fridays and Saturdays and you almost always left with $ 120. Now you work on a Saturday night and go home with $ 30 four hours after stimulation waiting for tables. I know that the economy is bad, but my sister works in a restaurant not far from me and she can make $ 250 a weekend while I may be working a $ 90 Saturday night and Sunday morning. (I never planned on Friday because the servers have been there longer than you)
Not that I'm a bad server. I've even been invited to train people and they do not hesitate to give me the difficult passages and a quarter while others take leave. But it's the only time I get them is when someone takes flight ..
I have not quit my job yet because I have spent the last 4 years a very unhappy person with very few friends and this work was, first, that really made me happy and I did a lot friends. I like the flexibility of the difference that some jobs are similar and not like a cool place such strict now. It is very casual and fun. But money wise, I feel like there are so many other jobs as a waitress with better tips. This is frustrating to have a table of eight to get two deep dish pizza and water and have them take half of your article for a $ 30 tab or two couples came with coupons for free meals and split two meals four people, so that their tab ends are $ 14 for 4 people. The cost and promotions, and portion sizes in restaurants, I work with is ridiculous for the servers to make money.
Maybe the servers have trouble I do not know. But I know next to Famous Daves, TGI Fridays, Ruby Tuesdays, Red Lobster, Olive Gardens, or Buffalo Wild Wings I could ask. In addition there are a few other small restaurants name in my area that I hear the typical dinner for two tabs will reach $ 100. I do not want to end up stuck in a grand restaurant business feel necessary. suggestions?
