Swedish KnivesPosted on April 23, 2010. Why do many Swedish music acts sing in English? In recent years, there were especially a lot of good indie bands / artists coming out of Sweden, but I find it curious that many of them do not sing in their Swedish origin. (For example - The Knife, Jose Gonzalez, Peter Bjorn John, etc.) I wondered to myself why. I think it started with ABBA. I think for a singer to be famous internationally they would have to sing in English. If they sing the song in their language most likely will not make it beyond the borders of their country. However, singing in English and a good song will attract the attention of a much wider audience both in the world since most countries play songs in English on the spot. I do not know but that's my opinion. so they can reach a wider audience It is more likely that people also talk of Sweden / knowledge of English than it is that people who speak English as their first language Swedish know. Thus, more people can listen to their music and know what they say. Everywhere in Europe, Asia and the bands sing in English. The posters are part Othe right / In addition to these points, the English language is a much more natural to sing pop, rock and other in. It's like that in every country, every Melo-Death Metal, Folk / Viking power metal, gothic, w / e of Germany, Italy and Scandinavia, they all sing in English today. . Well, JGEO ... What would you rather do? What I find interesting is many of these groups, who speak English as a 3rd or 4th language, are better in English than rappers (and their fans) born and raised in America.
