Silverware Etiquette

Posted on April 23, 2010.
Silverware EtiquetteQuestion on the label of silverware?

How are you supposed to set the table from left to right with the silver? Is it a spoon on the left and right two forks and a knife? And which one is the salad fork? The elongated one or a short fat?

Silverware
Silver-should be placed on the table in order, it will be used, silverware to be used first should be available on the farthest left and right of the plate.
-Forks are placed to the left of the plate, knives and spoons go to the right.
-Knives should be placed with their points toward the plate, except the butter knife to be laid flat on a bread plate.
-Utensils should be about 1/2-inch away from the plate either, and they must also align their regular funds.
-Avoid placing more silverware for the meal calls.
-Dessert silverware can be originally placed at the table setting if you like. The dessert fork or spoon should be centered above and parallel to the plate.
-If you are serving dishes that require specialty plate, make sure to hold the plate on each side of the plate in the order in which they will be eaten.

I try to remember when I learned that. At least one day is usually on the left fork and knife in right, and if you have the soup spoon goes to the right of the knife. I do not know what your plate looks like, but the fork is shorter the salad fork, and goes out with the dinner fork next to plate. If you want to go even further, you can file a small fork and spoon above the plate for dessert. Hope that helps.

From the left: the range of shrimp, salad fork, fork table. Plate in the middle;) If you have a dessert fork passes over the plate with the tines pointing to the right, if you have one dessert spoon it passes over the plate with the shovel to-end left. On the right side of the plate, you have the knife, the blade pointing toward the plate, then spoon, then spoon. The little big is the salad fork!
It's hard to explain, I can draw the diagram youa if you want or have any other questions, shoot me an email!

salad fork (short range), range table, the plate (w / towel in the center of the plate), a knife (w / blade toward the plate), a spoon. The glasses are placed above the knife to the right of the plate.

To expand on the answer Heidi. All silver items are placed further from the place as it is used, the server instance salida salida first fork is the outermost part of the soup served alongside the soup spoon is placed just to the inside the fork Salida.

It depends if it is a lunch or dinner or a formal event, etc. It varies for every occasion and with all the food you serve.
