Sandcastle Cake

Posted on May 11, 2010.
Sandcastle CakeHow can I do to icing a cake Sandcastle?

I need a recipe for frosting to decorate a cake sand castle, I intend to sprinkle sugar to make it look like white sand and use Sanddollars bark and starfish to decorate with. Revenue or advice would be appreciated.

Try some of these recipes:

http://www.sugarintheraw.com/html/recipe ...

http://www.dvo.com/recipe_pages/cakemixe ...

http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Sand-Castle- ...

I know they have the recipes on how to do the whole cake, but it also addresses the issue of frosting. From what I've read it seems that you just use a normal glazing, but may add things to it.

Ok after the fact ..... It wasn't as easy as I thought it would .... The only way to coat the cake with sugar was rolling pieces freshly frosted sugar and then assemble. The cake was a success nonetheless. Report Abuse

Sandcastle Cake

Makes 12 servings.

Create a "Day at the Beach" theme for a birthday party using this easy to make cakes as the centerpiece. You'll be pleased to see that the sugar does not really look like sand! You and your child can create the cake On the eve of the festival or make a fun project for children of many to do together.

A circle of cardboard 12 inches, paper, tape
1 8-inch square white cake (made from cake mix)
(Note - the leftover dough can be used for cupcakes
1 can (16 ounces) prepared vanilla frosting, divided
1 cup sugar in raw sugar turbinado
Set 6 squares graham crackers
4 ice cream cones
blue food coloring
Gummy fish
Jellybeans or gummy

Cover the circle in the box with paper, ribbon below. Center cake in the middle of cardboard. Frost cake top and sides, using about one third of the cherry, and coat with sugar. Working over the sink, wipe off the rest of the sugar from the base. Break graham cracker squares at the perforations into 12 rectangles. Frost and coat both sides of crackers with sugar, with the exception of the lower half of one side. Stick to the non-icy pirate on the cake, placing 3 Graham cracker on each side of the cake to resemble the stone "pillars" of the castle.

Slightly freeze ice cream cones and coat with sugar and set aside. Tint remaining frosting with blue food coloring and spread it on the edge of the base, the creation of "castle moat. Place the fish on the cold ice blue "water". Place the sugar cones at each corner of the castle to "turrets" hold in place with icing. Fill the cone with jelly beans or gumdrops. cake in refrigerator until ready to serve.

In fact, what you can do is ice the cake with frosting yellowish sand, then buy a container of sugar crystals Sprinkles (Sprinkles that it is similar to grains of sugar in small round containers) to obtain yellow / gold ones. Then cover the cake in them. Great texture job! Looks exacly like sand. No icing you buy look like real.
