Posted on May 10, 2010.
Lakota TribeHow was the Lakota tribe affected by the encroachment of white settlers?

How white settlers affect their lifestyle, culture, demographics, etc. and some members who were famous Lakota tribe? This is a research paper, and I'm supposed to meet a lot of questions about the Lakota tribe in my paper. These two questions are only two of the seven questions that I have not found that any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dramatically and negatively, I suggest a lot of research on it. Europeans slaughtered for food, buffalo,
down their trees and forests,
the firearm in methods of hunting,
the reintroduction of the horse that affect the distance traveled etc / hunting
the introduction of the pig encourage pastoralism,
Mining and the forced retirement of land
decimation of sacred grounds,
being pushed,
be forced to adopt Christianity
being forced to be like the whites in language, dress, actions, etc.
forced boarding schools,
diseases,
the effects of poverty and neagtive forced the introduction of drugs and alcohol, etc.

Three of the most famous Lakota tribe are Crazy Horse, Sitting Bull, Red Cloud and Chief. Chief Red Cloud signed the Treaty of 1868 which launched the "Sioux Reservation. The treaty has not been fully understood by the Indians at Red Cloud signed. After the U.S. failed to keep most of the promises enshrined in the Treaty, Red Cloud was the President of the United States for help. It was during his trip to Washington that the treaty has been explained to him, and he realized he had been deceived by the United States. Indians were invited to sign new treaties. Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse refused.

The Whites and the Transcontinental Railway destroyed the food supply Lakota killing all the buffalo. The whites brought diseases like smallpox, which killed dozens of Indians because they had no natural immunity. The U.S. government has removed the Lakota land and forced to live on reservations.
