Gerber Mark 2JEFF GERBER A voice for the families who lost daughters pregnant

Families of victims CN URGE PASSAGE OF LEGISLATION unborn victims
Saturday, October 31, 2009, three families spoke at the NC Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Library, organized by Jeff Gerber Union County, North Carolina for victims of violence act to be born. Bill unborn victims, according to these families, would bring them justice by recognizing the right of the second victim of these horrible murders: the unborn child. The bill would also allow the State to prosecute for two murders.
Among those advocating the passage of the Unborn Victims of Violence Act were Michele Dye, Kevin Blaine, and Effie Steele. Dye, whose daughter and her unborn child were brutally murdered in Gaston County last year, called the House Judiciary Chairman Deborah Ross and President Joe Hackney to allow unborn victims of a hearing within the regular judicial committee, followed by a debate and a recorded vote on the floor of the House.
Blaine, of Raleigh, is the father of Jennifer (Jenna) Nielsen. (Www.justice4jenna.org) Jenna, whose killer has not yet been arrested, was eight months half expecting her unborn son, Ethen, when, June 14, 2007, they were both assassinated Raleigh while on its early morning delivery route for USA Today.
Effie Steele, of Durham, is the mother of the murdered victim Ebony Robinson, and grandmother to her grandson, beloved son, Elijah, whom she was carrying. Ebony was only 21 when she was shot and killed in Hillsborough, NC. Ebony unborn son, Elijah, was born just two weeks later. Ebony and Elijah, whose images have been presented at the press conference, were buried in a coffin with his arm around mothers Elijah.
"We do not know if Elijah was a president, a doctor, lawyer, or teacher because he had no such luck. More importantly, it might be a participating member of society, if had the chance to enter this world and make its mark in history. I felt betrayed and robbed when the murderer of Ebony and Elijah has not been charged with murder and has two not made to pay for the life of my little son. He was accused and sentenced to two life sentences without possibility of parole instead of the one he received, "Steele said.
Jeff Gerber founder of "The Coalition Justice for All," recognizes that these families have suffered a terrible loss not just one but two loved and cherished by people in their immediate family due to an act of senseless violent crime . As the families of the victims argued Saturday, October 31, 2009, public policy should reflect the loss of two of the victims, not one. The laws of thirty-six other states to recognize the unborn child as a second victim and the federal government.
