10 ways easy being green at work There are many ways to be green at work. Here are some ways in need of money and time to be green - buy / printers using two-sided printing and copying, buying / installing fluorescent bulbs, or buying and installing solar panels electrical needs. But the workers can still have an important impact by making small changes which, when considered together, can have a significant impact. Here are 10 simple ways for workers to be green at work:
1. Reuse your water bottles
No need to buy bottled water every time you drink water. Just reuse an existing water bottle and fill the job. Most companies have filtered water at work that is health, and tastes as good as any bottled water.
2. Reuse Silverware
As much as we would like to put the metal plate to work every day and then take them home to wash it, we know that it is a heavy burden. So instead, use "disposable plastic silverware, but instead of throwing them, keep a container of them, then at the end of the week, bring them home and wash them so that you can reuse. Of course, if you have many pieces of silver metal, you can too.
3. Use plates instead of "to-go" containers
Almost every time I eat at my company cafeteria, they ask me if I want a meal "to go", meaning that if it's to-go, they'll put in a large disposable container. Instead of doing so in a disposable container, get the meal on a regular registration plate. In this way, the plate will be washed and reused, instead of going to the trash container.
4. Box up the grocery store plastic bags
Every time I look in the refrigerator business, or see people come and work, everyone seems to carry their lunch in a plastic grocery bag. More often than not, these bags thrown away once they have reached their goal. Of course, it is ideal for users to reuse their own bags every time, but in reality they are not all. So make it easy to reuse: create a box and put a sign on saying "Please Recycle grocery bags" that people can place their bags there and take them if they need. Then, when the box is full, bring them to a local grocery store and let them reuse.
5. Recycle waste paper
Make sure there are recycling paper bins next to printers, copiers and fax machines. Then, make sure that garbage recycling these wastes. You'll be amazed at the amount of paper will quickly fill the bins.
6. Turn off your computer
It seems like a burden, but you'll have a big impact in closing your computer for the weekend or at night. And in reality, not a burden at all - instead of closing it (which is ideal), you can actually select "Stand By" or "hibernation" during an arrest Windows. This greatly reduces the amount of energy your computer consumes.
7. Use reusable food containers
Many of us buy food and bring it to work, such as yogurt, snacks, etc. Instead of buying a single portions of food, buying in bulk or in large containers, then use containers reusable (like Tupperware, etc.) to work.
8. Get recyclable containers
If you do not have the money to feed your own recycling bins, see www.bottlesandcans.com or call 1-800-RECYCLE - they provide the black recycling bins that you see everywhere. It is very easy to recycle cans, bottles and other recyclable materials.
9. Teleconference when possible
Too often we travel to attend business meetings or client. If possible, just make the phone call instead of driving.
