About my Brinkmann gas grill. I have a new propane (tested and working) tank, I turn the gas, and it goes f? it works for about 5 seconds and then dies off. Thinking it is the regulator, but do not know how to test or repair. Ideas?
Propane cylinders have a speed limiter built into the service valve is there to make sense if the hose is cut or broken. If he feels fuel flowing too fast, it severely restricts the flow of gas.
Looks like you opened the valve on the bottle too quickly or the equipment of high tension before opening the valve on the bottle.
Make sure the controls are turned off. Then disconnect and reconnect the cylinder. Open the cylinder valve very slowly and only slightly cracked open. Wait 5 seconds, then open the faucet all the way. Turn on the device and it should work fine ...
By the way ... There are no thermocouples on a grid.
Edit: The next step in the diagnosis of this requires some technical sense. If you are not comfortable with what I describe here, ask someone who has done it before help you.
You must remove the grills etc. and get to where the burner is. Remove burner and inspect them for plugging holes, cracks or corrosion holes. Use wirebrush to clean the burner and a paper clip to poke through the holes of the burner and ensure they are clear. The venturi tubes that lead into the burner is a favorite spot for spiders make their nests. Since the pressure of gas flowing through these tubes is very low, it does not take much to block restriction. Use a piece of wire (not too rigid as a hanger) or you can buy a brush specifically for this, and push the bottom venturi tube into the burner. Look carefully when you pull back and see if there are traces of a website on the tip. Hopefully it is! If you can, blow out the burner with compressed air and reassemble the unit. Make sure the venturi tubes back on the holes well! fire test, while the unit.
The gates are a simple device, and if that does not solve the problem it can really be a faulty regulator or debris in controls. The regulators are fairly simple to replace and not expensive.
I hope this helps you go!
Perhaps the gas is high and it blows out.adjust the propane tank or grill knobs a lower setting
I do not know if it has a thermocouple, but if its what it could be a spectacle problem. Also Brinkmann they have a point
The thermocouple is making a loud noise if it was bad. Try hitting it "lightly" with a hammer. If it is a constant noise, replace it! Sometimes when you turn on the burner before Tun on gas, it does not turn properly. Make sure you turn on the gas first, then the gauges of the burner and finally touch. If this does not work, try: turn it off and disconnect the gas pipe. Take the grates, remove lids for gas burners and the burners themselves! Sometimes the spiders go in the burners for nesting and cover the holes of the burner. Good Clean and put back together. Try again! That should work! Good luck!
